When the Blue Anchor public house caught fire in February 2004, a single phone call in the early evening resulted in a lorry on site within one hour to shore up the gable end of the property so that the road could be safely re-opened. This was achieved by midnight and by eight o'clock in the morning men were on site erecting the scaffold to provide access to the building and take the temporary roof to completely enclose it. This scaffold was also hit by several storms in the ten months it was standing.
